1. Fitness Fad

Catch a workout at one of the many gyms and studios throughout the city.

If you’re ready to welcome the healthier version of yourself in 2017, there are plenty of workout options throughout the city. From killer yoga classes at MOVE Studio, Oxygen, and Bikram’s, swimming and gym workouts at Canada Games pool, or catch a quick workout at Dynamic Health and Fitness, Fit Xpress, 30 Minute Hit, ZHOOSH, and Sugarrays. There is also the beautiful outdoors – hop on your bike or run along the New West Quay. There really is no excuse for missing a workout this year.

2. Healthy Eating 101

Whether eating out or cooking at home is your style, New Westminster is filled with healthy restaurants and markets for you to explore.

Looking to improve your eating? Try skipping the office cakes and stop munching on snacks all day long and instead, kick off 2017 with a juice cleanse from Rain City Juicery. For lunch, skip the fast food and hit up Freshii for colourful smoothies and salads that will make you look forward to your lunch hour. And for dinner stop by Wild Rice for a diverse menu of wholesome dishes suitable for meat eaters, vegetarians, and vegans, along with seasonal options to keep your palate entertained.

If you want to cook meals from home, make sure to stop by the bi-weekly farmers market on Belmont St and visit Donalds Market in the River Market for healthy ingredients to help reach your goals.

3. Family is all that Matters

From family-friendly events to spending time in the outdoors, New West makes it easy to spend that precious quality time.

If you’re looking to spend more time with the family this year than make sure to check out the events put on by ArtStart. ArtStarts January monthly series for families will feature free, fun, 45-minute creative arts workshops with some of the best children’s artists. You can also plan to spend a family day down at the Quay, stop by the Fraser River Discovery Centre, the River Market, and on a nice day play some volleyball at the free volleyball court at Westminster Pier Park.

4. You WILL be Organised this Year

Sometimes all it takes is picking up an agenda and some Tupperware to declutter your mind and space.

Looking to be stop living in chaos and be more organised in 2017? Make sure to stop by Lofty Living, Brick and Mortar, and even Walmart and London Drugs in Royal City Centre to get some tools to help you keep this resolution.

5. Make time for you

Sometimes all it takes is one day at the spa to feel back to you again.

Make sure to pencil in the all important you-day this year. Take a spa day to relax and revitalize at Cadeaux, Limina or West Coast College of Massage Therapy and discover holistic nutrition and medicine with Polo Health on Columbia St.
